Privacy Policy
Last updated on 03/25/2025
At Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, we prioritize privacy. Any personal information we collect while working with you will only be used to help represent you in your legal matter and will not be sold or shared for any marketing use without your consent.
How we collect your personal information
Your personal data is collected through intake forms and financial affidavits completed during our initial engagement. We may also collect data about your case via our online web portal, email, and other correspondence. The collected information will be utilized exclusively to support your legal representation and will not be disclosed to any third party without your explicit consent.
What personal information we collect
To meet grant obligations and provide optimal case support, we collect specific personal data, including names, email addresses, home addresses, phone numbers, and limited financial details. We guarantee that this information is not shared. For community understanding, collected data is stored in an anonymized format.
How we use your personal information
We use text messaging for scheduling and case updates only. We will not send marketing texts. Occasionally, we may invite you to take an anonymous survey to improve our service. Participation is optional.
Third-party access to personal information
Your phone number and text consent will never be shared or sold for marketing. We do share anonymized demographic data with funders to maintain reduced service rates. This means we provide statistical summaries of our client base, but no individual's personal information is ever identified. We use security measures to protect your data, but no online service is completely secure. We employ industry-standard encryption and access controls, but inherent risks exist. Text messages may pass through third-party platforms. This includes mobile carriers and SMS gateways, which are outside our direct control. By using our texting service, you acknowledge that we are not liable for unintended disclosures. This clarifies that despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee absolute data protection due to the nature of online communication.
Neither your phone number nor your SMS consent (should you choose to provide it) will be shared with or sold to any third party or affiliates for marketing purposes or any reason. However, to provide our services at reduced rates, we must provide aggregated demographic data of the people we serve to our funders.
The Clinic implements various security measures to protect your Personal Information based on its sensitivity. However, no online service can be 100% secure. Your information may pass through third-party infrastructures outside our control, such as SMS delivery platforms or carrier networks. While we work to safeguard your data, we cannot guarantee complete protection. Using the Messaging Service, you acknowledge that the Clinic is not liable for unintended disclosures.
Terms & Conditions
Consent for SMS communications
Your phone number and text consent are considered private and will not be shared with any external parties. The text opt-in feature is designed solely for facilitating communication regarding your case, including updates on the status of your legal matter, reminders about upcoming appointments, and requests for necessary information from your attorney or paralegal. You can opt out of receiving these text messages at any time by simply replying "STOP" to the number from which you received the message. However, please note that opting out will effectively stop all case updates and information from being sent to you via text. If you decide to participate in any surveys related to our messaging service, we will collect your basic contact information, such as your name and phone number, and any other information you provide in your survey responses.
Neither your phone number nor your SMS consent (should you choose to provide it) will be shared with or sold to any third party or affiliates for marketing purposes or any reason. By accepting the “Text Opt-In” at the time of your intake or during the signing of your “Attorney-Client Agreement,” you are only agreeing to receive text messages from your assigned attorney or paralegal on the status of your case or reminders on appointments or information needed.
You may opt out of receiving SMS messages anytime by messaging “STOP” to the respective number. Opting out will prevent you from getting updates on your legal matter or any other needs your attorney or paralegal may require from you via SMS messaging.
If you participate in surveys related to the Messaging Service, we will collect basic contact information and any other details you provide.
Types of SMS communications
Upon your consent to receive SMS Communications, you will be sent text messages directly from your assigned attorney or paralegal. These messages will primarily focus on providing you with timely updates regarding the status of your legal case, reminding you of scheduled appointments, or requesting specific information needed to effectively proceed with your case. Additionally, we may occasionally invite you to participate in voluntary surveys designed to assess and enhance the quality of services provided by the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic. Your feedback is crucial in helping us improve our services and better serve our community.
After obtaining your consent to send SMS Communications, you may receive text messages from your assigned attorney or paralegal regarding the status of your case or reminders on appointments or information needed. You may also receive requests to participate in surveys regarding the quality of services you received from the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic.
