Visit irs.gov/individuals/get-ready-to-file-your-taxes to find out if you need to file, locate a nearby Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site for free tax preparation, learn about recent tax changes, check your eligibility for refundable credits, find out how to request an extension, and get a list of necessary documents for preparing your return. You can also discover how to create an account at www.irs.gov and much more. The IRS plans to open the 2025 filing season in late January, though the exact date has not yet been confirmed.
