A Farewell Letter from Amy
Friends,
I have made the difficult decision to leave the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, in order to devote more time to my health and my family. I am deeply saddened to step away from the Clinic’s wonderful mission of promoting justice through legal services for our low-income neighbors as a way of demonstrating Christ's love.
This was not an easy decision, but I feel peace in it—a peace I know comes from God.
As I processed this painful decision, He led me to one particular passage: "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). I was reminded and reassured that part of God’s great design is seasons—distinct periods of time that draw us closer to Him and affirm that He is in control and has a plan and a purpose in all things.
He also provided peace in clarifying that the Clinic is in very capable hands with a Board of Directors, management team, and team members who are not only talented, but intently focused on Biblical justice—providing not only legal help, but also hope, to our neighbors with the least social and economic power. They model the love of Christ, who has the power to transform lives. God calls on His people to do justice, and the staff and Board of the Clinic heed that call every day.
The Board is conducting a search for the next Executive Director. During this process, the Clinic’s Senior Director of Legal Services, Liz Fiscus, will serve as Interim Executive Director starting March 1, 2022. Liz’s legal career, primarily as a public servant, spans over two decades. She is well-equipped to lead the staff through this time of transition.
Thank you for your support and friendship over the past two years, and thank you for linking arms with the Clinic in its mission.
I pray our paths continue to cross.
Appreciatively,
Amy
