ICYMI: June 2020
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” -- Galatians 6:2
This June, we focused on how we are engaging with and empowering our community. We highlighted educational opportunities for our neighbors to ask questions and learn more from our attorneys; we hosted a series of Virtual Trivia Nights as a fun way to support pro bono legal services for marginalized people; and we shared important messages and updates for our followers on community resources.
We continued this month with a telework model to best serve our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. To learn more about how to access our services during this time, please visit our website.
On the blog this month, we shared a special and heartfelt message from Executive Director Amy Horton on “Justice for All” during this time of difficulty and social unrest. In order to better reach our followers with the important information they need, we continue to host Facebook LIVE sessions every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 PM EDT, during which anyone can tune in and ask an attorney questions on various topics like immigration, family law, expungement, and more. For more information about these sessions, please visit our website.
Every Wednesday this month, we hosted a Virtual Trivia Night, featuring co-hosts Matthew Barr, our Clinic board chair, and Ashley Caveda, our creative engagement coordinator. We were elated at the response from our community and had the pleasure of hosting people from all over the country through our virtual format. Thank you to Philip Zimmerly, Laura Pontius, Kelsey Raves, and April Ervin for sharing a short personal story about their connection with the mission of the Clinic during the four evenings, respectively. And a huge thank you to all of our players, who made each Wednesday so much fun. Your support allows us to continue seeking justice on behalf of marginalized people.
Congratulations to our many winners, including those who took home the top prizes each week:
Also this month, after the recent Supreme Court decision on DACA, we shared a story with you featuring just one of our clients who is a DACA recipient:

Join us next month as we feature highlights on some of our amazing donors and grantors, without whom our work of seeking justice would not be possible. Have a safe and fun Fourth of July!
