ICYMI: December 2019
“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” — 2 Corinthians 9:15
In case you missed it, this December, we celebrated exciting victories, both big and small, from the past year!
On the blog last month, Clinic Volunteer Attorney Phil Zimmerly shared the positive outcome from a recent case he took on. We also learned more about a victory for some of our Victim Justice Program clients, Deyanira and her children.
On social media, we celebrated the victories of many of our staff members from the past year, like Bilingual Paralegal Katy taking lead on some important case tasks, Justice Fellow Makenzie helping a man be able to travel the world again, Director of Programs Kate looking forward to the benefits of our new Homeless Justice Program, and Victim Justice Program Staff Attorney Erica giving updates on a couple of her past clients! Celebrating these positive outcomes for our staff, clients, and volunteers brings us such joy, and all of it is possible because of those who faithfully support our work. Thank you!
As a staff team, we celebrated the Christmas holiday with a delicious meal, games, caroling, and a Secret Santa gift exchange:
Despite all of the fun Christmas cheer, we did have a bittersweet time of saying goodbye to our longtime receptionist, Alicia Dimas, who retired in December. We are excited for her to enjoy her retirement, but we are so sad to lose her. Her strength, knowledge, and kindness have assisted almost every person who has walked through the front doors of our office for the past several years. It is no exaggeration to say that she has been a pillar of the Clinic in her position. We pray the Lord will bless this next chapter in her life.
This January, we say farewell to our 25th anniversary year and we set our sights ahead. In 2020, we will explore our vision for the future of the Clinic. We have faith that the Lord will guide us through this time of new beginnings. Thank you for walking alongside us. We wish you the most beautiful and blessed new year!
