ICYMI: January 2019
“Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.” -- Psalm 82:3
In case you missed it, this January, we kicked off our 25th anniversary year with a close look at the Clinic’s Biblical Roots. Executive Director Chris Purnell shared a four-part blog series that explores the matter of justice and its role in the work we do. Read the whole series now: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, & Part 4.
We also looked back at the very beginning, sharing blogs on The Vision, The Founding, and The Heart of the Clinic.
On January 28, we celebrated the official day of our 25th anniversary with a cake cutting. We also launched a new page called “25 Years!” on our website to keep you up-to-date on all of the special events happening this year. Be sure to check back frequently and to follow #TeamJusticeTurns25 for all the latest photos and news!
On social media this month, we shared the story of a client named Sofia who was seeking a divorce from an abusive husband. We also introduced you to Jasmine, a young woman who needed help with her DACA renewal. And we re-shared a video called “Robin’s Story” about a woman who struggled with substance abuse and who then needed help getting her record expunged years later.
Yesterday, we announced the upcoming arrival of five new Clinic babies this spring—including a set of twins!
And in a video we shared this month, Executive Director Chris Purnell met with Indy Habitat’s President & CEO Jim Morris. Together, they discuss our upcoming event called “The Hidden Housing Crisis,” featuring author Matthew Desmond. This lecture will take place at The Toby at Newfields on Feb. 28. Get your tickets here now!
Check back this February as we’ll be focusing on the great work of our Housing Department and the biggest threats to safe and secure housing faced by our clients. Be sure to tune in to WFYI’s No Limits on Feb. 14 at 1:00 PM when we’ll be discussing “The Hidden Housing Crisis” with host John Krull.
And, as ever, thank you for your continued support!
