Meet Wills & Estates Volunteer Paralegal, Terry Anderson

Meet Terry, our Wills & Estates volunteer paralegal. Terry has been working with the Clinic as a volunteer paralegal since 2012. She works alongside Art Johnson, our volunteer staff attorney responsible for creating the Wills & Estates legal program at the Clinic. Terry is a mom, an educator,  a paralegal and one of our awesome volunteers.  After raising her son here in Indianapolis, Terry decided to go back to school to get her degree in education. Terry has been working in education for about ten years as a teacher's assistant and in 2009 went back to school again, this time to receive her paralegal certificate. Terry graduated with her paralegal studies certificate in June 2012 from IUPUI and began volunteering with the Clinic in October 2012.

Terry says she wanted a real experience as a paralegal and wished to gain more skills through hands-on work in the non-profit sector, which is why she reached out to the Clinic. Terry is passionate about making sure all people get what they need to live a full life and when asked what social justice means to her she said,  "Helping meet those needs for all individuals".

When I asked Terry what it was about the Clinic that kept her motivated to continue volunteering she said, "It's been such a great learning experience where I have been given real responsibility. I love working with Art and the clients we serve."

Terry said she'd love to talk to any individual interested in volunteering as a paralegal at the Clinic or in the community in general. If you'd like to talk to Terry, just email me, Erin at ehougland@nclegalclinic.org and I'll connect you to Terry.

In her free time Terry takes art classes at the Indianapolis Art Center in Broad Ripple and is looking forward to a visit to England this summer to visit her son.

Terry, thanks for all your hard work and passion for helping individuals in need. Your loyalty to the Clinic and to the community we serve is inspiring.
